Terms of service
The deal in plain English: what you get, what it costs, and how to leave. No small print designed to trip you up.
What you’re buying
A website designed, built, hosted and maintained by us on a monthly plan. What each plan includes — page count, number of edits, and features — is set out on our pricing page, which forms part of these terms.
Billing
Plans are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically until you cancel. Annual prepay is billed once for twelve months and waives the setup fee. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any sales tax that may apply.
Setup fees, where they apply, are charged once at the start and are shown before you commit. We will never add a charge you have not seen first.
Cancelling
There is no contract and no cancellation fee. Email us and we will stop billing at the end of your current period. We do not charge for the notice period, and we do not hold your site hostage to make leaving awkward.
Monthly payments are not refundable for a period already served, since the work and hosting for that month have been delivered. If we have charged you in error, we will refund it.
Who owns what
Your domain is registered in your name and stays yours, always, including if you leave. Your content — text, photos, logo, and anything else you give us — remains yours.
On a monthly plan, we own the site build and licence it to you for as long as you subscribe. If you want to own it outright, the Own-It Build transfers the files to you. If you cancel a monthly plan we will export your content for you at no charge.
Edits and turnaround
Each plan includes a set number of edit requests per month, listed on the pricing page. Unused edits do not roll over. Additional edits are billed at the published add-on rate, quoted before we start. We aim to turn edits around within two business days, and to reply to any message within one.
What we need from you
We need your content and timely feedback to build your site. You confirm you have the right to use anything you send us — particularly photos and logos — and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights. We may decline work that is unlawful, misleading, or that we judge would harm people.
Uptime and limits of liability
We host on established infrastructure and aim for continuous availability, but no host is perfect and we do not promise uninterrupted service. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits. Our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Domains at cost
Where we register a domain for you, we pass it through at the registrar’s price with no markup, and register it in your name. Renewal remains your responsibility unless you ask us to manage it.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we will update this page and the date above, and tell existing clients by email before anything affecting them takes effect. Price changes never apply mid-term.
